Yvonne Love
is an American sculptor and installation artist whose work observes, records, and responds to the beauty of nature and to the urgent environmental challenges of our time. Her practice bridges art and science, exploring the delicate balance between human existence and the natural world. From water contamination to the accelerating climate crisis, Love’s work reflects both reverence and reckoning—an ongoing conversation with the planet we inhabit.
Deeply collaborative in nature, her projects often emerge from partnerships with scientists, environmentalists, poets, musicians, and fellow visual artists. Through these cross-disciplinary engagements, she seeks to cultivate dialogue, awareness, and empathy for the living systems that sustain us.
Love is an Associate Professor of Art at Penn State University’s Abington campus, she received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and maintains an active exhibition record nationally and internationally.
Anne R. Fabbri describes Love's work:
"Using modeling paste and resin on clayboard, Love creates relief patterns in a complex rhythm. They're the equivalent of a poetry of the mind— a meditative landscape that each viewer can personalize."
Nancy Campbell writes of Love's collaboration on the climate crisis:
"A rich reading of science and literature runs through this work and is transmuted by it. Art is a space for what Love and Russomagno describe as “an emotional meditation on loss” that is necessarily absent from science, but at the same time is essential before humans can transform science into onward action. Humans often seem unable to act on knowledge—their tragic ‘flaw’ perhaps? To address climate crisis with the urgency that is necessary scientists and policymakers and artists all have a role to play. This is work which not only questions, but inspires the viewer to ask questions in turn."

“Teaching sustains and inspires me—it’s an exchange of energy, curiosity, and connection.”
Teaching has been an essential thread throughout my life—an ongoing dialogue between making, thinking, and engaging with others through art. Over the years, I have taught at several Philadelphia-area colleges and universities, including the University of Pennsylvania and the University of the Arts.
In 1995, my husband, David, and I co-founded Ravens Run Arts, a visual and performing arts school in New Hope, Pennsylvania, where we served as co-directors for a decade. The school’s theme-based curriculum brought together visual art, writing, dance, theater, and music, culminating each summer in a collaborative final performance. Ravens Run continues to thrive today, carrying forward the spirit of creative collaboration that shaped its origins.
The school’s design was inspired by Griot New York—a collaboration between sculptor Martin Puryear, musician Wynton Marsalis, and choreographer Garth Fagan. Their seamless blending of visual, musical, and physical vocabularies inspired me; their wordless communication blurred boundaries between genres, forming a new language of connection that continues to inform my teaching.
My dedication to community engagement led me to co-found Artists in Residence, a nonprofit that brought working artists into local schools across Bucks and Hunterdon Counties. From 1997–2002, as president and creative director, I developed integrative, curriculum-sensitive programs connecting professional artists with students and teachers—embedding art into the daily rhythm of public education.
For the past thirty years, my teaching home has been Penn State Abington, where I serve as Associate Professor of Art. My courses often bridge disciplines—combining art, environmental inquiry, and social action—and are grounded in the belief that learning through making can transform both individuals and communities. Partnerships with institutions like the Barnes Foundation and The Moravian TileWorks have deepened this approach, creating opportunities for students to learn directly within professional and historic contexts.
Interdisciplinary learning and high-impact experiences are at the heart of my teaching philosophy.
I can’t imagine my life without teaching. It fuels my curiosity, shapes my studio practice, and continually renews my belief in art’s capacity to connect people and ideas.
